About Us

About Marcia Lane & The Lane Spa

I received my license to practice massage therapy in January 1991. My first few years in business included medical practices, resort spas, salons and an extensive house call business. I became a massage therapy teacher (continuing educational provider) in January of 2001 when my passion for the traditional Hot Stone Massage inspired me to author my own massage protocol, “Lane Stone Therapy”. After being approved by The Board of Massage, I enjoyed teaching hundreds of students in this area and many others in resort spas all over the country. My other teaching credentials also include Florida State Certification for Hydrotherapy, Thalassotherapy and “How to Create a Successful Massage Therapy Practice.”

The Lane Spa opened its doors September 1, 1995 as Lane Massage Therapy, Inc. with the help of a modest S.B.A. loan and support from my family and friends. With virtually no capital and no business experience I relied on God’s grace and direction, the love for my work, my dedication to the spa industry, and my staff. The Lane Spa struggled to make ends meet for years. I often was forced to put my payroll on a credit card! Little by little with no advertising budget more people found out about us through referrals and came to experience and enjoy this unique little day spa that no one had ever heard of.

In the past nineteen years the spa has grown from 1,000 square feet to 3,500 square feet, from 4 to 34 professional and licensed staff members, and from offering simply massage therapy to a repertoire of over 60 selections of various spa and wellness services. The staff is the most important aspect of our success. We attract exceptionally talented and professional people with a dedicated work ethic. We share a bond of faith and perseverance to excel. My husband, Jay, and my daughter, Crystal, both assist me in the daily operations. Jay’s expertise is in marketing and finance and Crystal manages the front desk every Saturday. During the week she is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist that works with children who have emotional and behavioral challenges.

IMG_2003I believe education is vital to a successful day spa. The Lane Spa offers continuing educational classes for the staff every month. The peacefully customized treatment rooms are always evolving to fit the needs of our clients and staff. I renovate or update at least 4 rooms per year. Change is fun, it keeps us on the cutting edge and our guests continually compliment us on how attractive and immaculately clean they are.

In 2001, I founded The Lane Spa’s non-profit organization, The M.C.L Foundation Inc. This charitable organization was created to assist families in crisis. I truly believe that it is by self forgetting that one finds themselves. We have donated over $80,000 to charity and collect non-perishable food items for hungry local families each month. Don’t forget to look for the playpen filled with food in our boutique!

People often ask me, What makes your spa so special? My clients continually tell me that they feel at peace the minute they walk through my door.

I am devoted to my work every day. I feel inspired and alive when I am at The Lane Spa. The spa has weathered many a storm in the business world but we steadily continue to increase our client base every year. We strive to continue to serve our new and returning clients with dedication with the latest and most innovative treatments that the spa industry has to offer.
