About Marcia Lane & The Lane Spa

I earned my license to practice Massage Therapy in January 1990. My first few years in business included medical practices, resort spas, salons, and an extensive house-call business. I became a Massage Therapy teacher (continuing educational provider) in January of 2001 when my passion for Native American Hot Stone Massage inspired me to author my own Massage protocol, “Lane Stone Therapy”. After being approved by The Board of Massage, I enjoyed teaching hundreds of students in this area and many others in resort spas in Florida and California. My other teaching credentials included Florida State Certification for Hydrotherapy, Thalassotherapy, and “How to Create a Successful Massage Therapy Practice.”

The Lane Spa opened its doors on September 1, 1995, as Lane Massage Therapy, Inc. with the help of a modest S.B.A. loan and support from my family and friends. With virtually no capital and no business experience, I relied on God’s grace and direction, my love for my work, my dedication to the spa industry, and my staff. The Lane Spa struggled to make ends meet for years. I often was forced to put my payroll on a credit card! Little by little with no advertising budget more people found out about us through referrals and came to experience and enjoy this unique little day spa that no one had ever heard of.

In the past 29 years, the Spa has grown from 1,000 square feet to 3,500 square feet. We opened our doors with 4 treatment rooms and now offer 12 rooms with a private Nail Spa, Boutique, sitting room, 3 bathrooms, and shower facility. The staff has grown from 4 to 38 professionals which include licensed Massage, Skin Care, and Nail technicians, and employees. We expanded our treatment offerings from just massage to over 60 selections of various, facial treatments, nail care services, massage, and spa wellness treatments. As you know, the staff is the most important aspect of our continued success. The Lane Spa attracts exceptionally talented and professional people with a caring and dedicated work ethic. We share a bond of faith and perseverance to excel in all we offer. My husband Jay Hennessey and our front desk manager Brandy Smith operate all aspects of our all-inclusive spa operation such as; guest booking, staff scheduling, advertising, computer programming, and staff management. Jay is The Lane Spa’s C.F.O. Finance and Marketing have always been his expertise.

I believe education, training, and spending quality time with our staff are vital to our success. Our 12 serene and customized treatment rooms are unique, immaculate and endlessly evolving to the needs of our guests.

In February 2002, I founded The Lane Spa’s non-profit organization, The M.C.L. Foundation Inc. This charitable organization was created to assist families in crisis. I truly believe this is God’s work through me. Our Board Members and Angel Shoppers fill our big white cart on wheels in our boutique every month with food for hungry local families, school supplies in July, Everything but the Turkey in November, and Christmas gifts for the less fortunate children in December. We host a benefit every November and May which earn close to $10,000 every year. Since 2002 we have estimated our total giving to be over $300,000. We have only YOU to thank for your continuous generous donations when visiting the spa.

People always ask me, what makes your spa so special? Our clients and friends repeatedly tell me that they feel at peace the minute they walk through our doors and the scents of pure essential oils from Mother Earth are always in the air!

I have been devoted for the last 25 years every day to my work and passion for my business. I happily work on Sundays when the spa is closed so I may reflect on how grateful I am when it’s quiet. I feel inspired and alive when I am at The Lane Spa. The Lane Spa came from nothing but faith and has weathered many a storm in the business world BUT we steadily continue to increase our client base every year. We all strive to serve YOU with a heartfelt dedication to our professions and strive to offer the latest and most innovative treatments that the day spa industry has to offer.
